Background and Expertise

Getrude Misango is a distinguished international development, gender inclusion, and private sector development expert with over 15 years of leadership experience across fragile states, frontier markets, and complex development environments throughout Africa. As a Non-Executive Director of Accmak Global, she provides strategic oversight and independent guidance on sustainable development, inclusive growth, corporate governance, stakeholder engagement, and social impact.

She currently serves as Country Director at CARE International and also leads Gender Economic Inclusion and Private Sector Development initiatives for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. In these leadership roles, she works closely with governments, multilateral institutions, development partners, and private sector organizations to design and implement high-impact, gender-responsive programs that foster economic empowerment and sustainable development across the continent.

Throughout her career, Getrude has been instrumental in integrating inclusion into development strategy, project design, financing, implementation, and evaluation. She has led the development of regional gender action plans for the Sahel, the Horn of Africa, and the Lake Chad region, while introducing innovative frameworks that standardize gender metrics and embed social inclusion into investment and project decision-making from inception.

Prior to her development leadership roles, she served as Regional Business Development Lead at Philips East Africa, where she successfully launched a €1 million solar lighting business unit, expanding access to clean energy for rural schools, healthcare facilities, and underserved communities. She also served as Corporate Outreach Advisor for IFC's Lighting Africa Program, strengthening partnerships with financial institutions, SACCOs, distributors, and private sector stakeholders to accelerate access to certified solar energy solutions across East Africa.

Getrude holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Sunderland and is a Chartered Marketer (MCIM). She is widely recognized for her ability to bridge public and private sector partnerships, translate complex development challenges into practical solutions, and build high-performing teams that deliver measurable economic and social impact.

At Accmak Global, Getrude's international perspective, strategic leadership, and expertise in development finance, environmental and social governance (ESG), gender inclusion, and institutional partnerships significantly strengthen the firm's ability to advise governments, development finance institutions, multinational corporations, non-governmental organizations, and private sector clients. Her contribution reinforces Accmak Global's commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable, and globally relevant advisory solutions that create lasting value for businesses and communities alike.
